I've always loved the swankiness of this costume, and of course, of Utena's character, so I had to make this costume. It was sort of at the back of my mind for a while, then one day as I was at Target, I happened to come across the PERFECT hat in the clearance section. I forget how much it was exactly, but I only paid a few dollars for it! I didn't actually start on the costume itself until much later. I decided to cut my Utena wig into the short style because I never really liked the way the bangs looked on me, and if I cut it, it could easily be hidden under the hat.
This costume, once again, got put aside for a long time until sometime this year my friend Laura convinced me somehow to take it up again, and she was going to be my Anthy! I decided to start over with the whole thing, and bought a couple of different patterns for a jacket and pants. I absolutely love the way the pants came out, but the jacket still could use a little more work. Still, I was pleased with it overall.
