I actually had no part in making this costume, other than the socks and shoes were mine from previous costumes. I had planned on making a different version of Hikaru's costume to go along with Kat's beautiful Fuu. I was also making the Cosmic Fantasy costumes at the time, which were supposed to be a suprise to Kat, and took up most of my time. Long story short, I didn't have the time, energy, nor money to make the elaborate costume that was originally planned, so I regretfully had to back out of making this costume for our Rayearth group that was meeting at AX02. Well, a few weeks later, Kat came to my door with this wonderful costume for me.
It wasn't the final armor she gets at the end of the series, but rather the first outfit you meet her in, her school uniform. I love everything about it, from the huge oversized bow, to the long, pleated skirt. It's a simple costume of a skirt, jacket, and bow, but it's also very comfortable, and I don't even have to worry about the length of my skirt when I'm doing.. well, anything. The costume is made from cotton fabrics, which also make it easy to wear.
Right before leaving for AX, I asked a friend who made wigs at the time if she had any extra wigs that would go okay with the costume. She somehow managed to dig up a beautiful long red wig and matching extension from her collection and made the most wonderful wig for me.
